Department of History Holds a Seminar on the Political and Military Role of Agha Khan Nuri

 

The Department of History in the College of Arts at the University of Basrah held a seminar as part of the series of seminars organized by the department to discuss postgraduate research projects. The seminar discussed the Master’s thesis project of student Hanaa Khudair titled (Mirza Agha Khan Nuri and His Political and Military Role in Iran 1807–1885).

Faculty members expressed their admiration for the topic due to the importance of the figure in modern Iranian history and the political and military transformations that the country witnessed during his tenure as Grand Vizier. They also provided precise scientific remarks regarding the thesis plan, emphasizing the need for the researcher to focus on the figure’s role in Iran’s foreign policy, particularly in relation to the rivalry between Britain and Tsarist Russia over the country’s resources, as well as the outcomes of the era of Mirza Agha Khan Nuri in Iran’s political history.
