As part of a series of awareness and educational activities, the Department of Philosophy at the College of Arts, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized a seminar entitled (Drugs and Their Effects).

The seminar, which was lectured by Colonel Ali Mohsen Hamid and Mr. Saddam Abdul Jalil Hashim from the Department of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in Basra Governorate, aims to explain the dangers of drugs on the individual and society, and to increase awareness about the negative effects of drugs and their psychological, health, economic and social consequences.

The seminar included examining the religious and moral position on it, as well as explaining the position of Iraqi law on drug users and dealers.
