The College of Arts at the University of Basrah Continues a Series of Extracurricular Scientific Activities

Within the curriculum of extracurricular scientific and cultural activities in the College of Arts / University of Basrah, which began last academic year, and within the series of scientific workshops, the college presented the second scientific workshop entitled (The Persian Language between Education and Culture) by Assistant Lecturer Shahd Rahim Maktoof and managed and presented by Professor Zainab Sami Hawl / Translation Department, responsible for the aforementioned activities, on Wednesday 10/30/2024 in the conference hall at the college.


It is worth noting that the workshop topics were distributed over two sessions, the first on the above-mentioned day and the second a week later. This workshop was allocated to the college staff and a number of students from its scientific departments. In it, Maktoof discussed the overlap of the Persian language with the Arabic language in terms of letters, pronunciation and culture as a general framework for determining pronunciation in geographical areas of different types according to the added letters and the region in which it is pronounced, in addition to clarifying the foundations that guarantee the correct pronunciation of a number of words of the colloquial language there.

Maktouf concluded the session with a set of recommendations indicating the necessity of following up on the rules and foundations that were explained regarding this language. She explained that the second session is linked to practical applications for using it in places that require it, such as conversations and some instructions that are provided to the tourist or visitor that he needs at the airport and others.
