
On Monday morning, 24/1/2022, a PhD thesis, entitled (Arming the Iraqi Army 1921-1968: a Historical Study), was discussed at the Department of History at the College of Arts / University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by the student Ibrahim Rasoul Hussein included four chapters. The first chapter discussed arming the Iraqi army 1921-1968, the second chapter included arming the Iraqi army from the Soviet Union 1968-1988, the third chapter dealt with arming the Iraqi army from France and the local military industry 1968-1988, and the fourth chapter discussed arming the Iraqi army from the rest of the world 1980-1988.
The thesis aims to explain the government's role in developing its army, especially from the armament aspect.
The thesis concluded: Iraq succeeded in linking some countries with it, including France, through its debts, and succeeded in keeping France away from Iran and developing its local military industry.
